AERIENIRTI

(Eirini Drosou)

🎨 Artist Profile:

AERIENIRTI, the artistic pseudonym of Irini Drosou, is a contemporary visual artist born and raised in Imerovigli, Santorini. She currently lives and works between Santorini and Athens, Greece.

Her creative journey began with private painting lessons under the guidance of the renowned artist Takis Schinas, and she also studied Byzantine iconography with Adamantia-Villia Giannopoulou. A pivotal figure in her artistic development was the late sculptor-painter Vasiliki Tsekoura, who served as both a mentor and an early influence.

Later on, in Paris, she came into contact with the expressive freedom of modern art and abstraction, elements that would deeply influence her evolving style.

Her work draws heavily from the volcanic landscape of Santorini, where she finds raw inspiration in light, form, and natural textures. Through her paintings, she seeks to capture the silent yet powerful energy of the island, often blending earthy materials with ethereal hues to reflect the contrast between eruption and stillness, between presence and memory.

As AERIENIRTI, Irini’s work exists at the intersection of emotion and environment, delicate yet intense, abstract yet deeply rooted in place.

Irini Drosou has presented her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
Notable solo exhibitions include:

  • Ifestites (2004, Bellonio Cultural Center, Santorini)

  • My Heart (2008, Gyzi Megaron, Santorini)

  • Internal Dialogues (2013, Gyzi Megaron, Santorini)

  • AERIENIRTI (2014, Boutari Winery, Santorini)

  • Atlantis (2018, Santorini Arts Factory, Santorini)

She has also participated in group exhibitions in Greece and internationally, including her participation in the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in 2023.

Irini Drosou continues to contribute to the artistic dialogue through her works, which bridge myth and reality, inviting the viewer into a deeply introspective experience. https://www.drosou.gr

MARIA SOFIA GELOU

Maria-Sofia Gelou was born under the winter skies of December 1966, in the timeless city of Athens, where she continues to live and create. Her journey into the art of jewelry began through years of dedicated apprenticeship with the renowned Dimitris Nikolaidis, a guiding light in her early exploration of technique and form.

Over time, she enriched her practice by attending a constellation of specialized seminars and workshops, both in Greece and abroad, that deepened her connection to the craft and expanded her artistic horizon.

Among them are:

- Yoko Izawa Acrylic Workshop

- Tanvi Kant Textiles and Jewelry Workshop

- Jewelry design seminar at the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum.

- “Write your own script” by Charon Kransen

She expanded her artistic vision through studies at the Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence, where she immersed herself in the following programs:

- Υοκο Shimizu “Free Experimentation with Cast Epoxy Resin”

- Daniela Boieri “Marriage Metals and Mixing Metal Techniques”

- Intensive Course in Contemporary Jewellery of Alchimia’s study program.

Her creations have been handpicked and made available at the Benaki Museum Shop on Piraeus Street in Athens, an honor that reflects both artistic integrity and timeless appeal. She has shared her handmade jewelry in numerous curated exhibitions across Greece, each piece carrying the imprint of her personal vision and craftsmanship. For several years, she also maintained her own booth at the Athens Fashion Trade Show, presenting her collections to a broader audience of creatives and collectors. We are honored to showcase a curated selection of exceptional pieces from her collection, currently featured in the ELEMENTAL FORMS exhibition, an artistic exploration of form, material, and essence.
